Danny E. Stevens, 69, of Prophetstown, IL, died suddenly on Monday, February 12, 2024, at MercyOne Clinton Medical Center, Clinton, IA.
Dan was born March 14, 1954, in Kewanee, IL, the son of Percy and Katherine “Kay” (Oberg) Stevens. He graduated from Erie High School in the class of 1973. He married Mary Brashear on May 18, 1991, at Morrison Rockwood State Park. Dan drove a truck and was an owner/operator for several years. He later went to work as a farm hand, a job that took him back to his childhood, growing up on the farm.
Dan was not one to sit still. He loved to tinker with cars and trucks. He took an interest in tractors and enjoyed going to the area antique tractor shows. He loved fishing, feeding the birds and wildlife, and nature. He cherished his many wonderful friends and family.
Dan is survived by his wife, Mary; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Nancy Stevens, Morrison, IL; nephews, Chris (Lacey) Stevens and Derek Stevens; many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation will take place with a private memorial at a later date. Gibson-Bode Funeral Home, Erie, IL, is in care of arrangements.
