Danny E. Porter, Sr., 65 of Sterling, IL, died Sunday, February 17, 2019, at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling.
Danny was born on December 2, 1953, at St. Francis hospital in Kewanee, IL, the son of Cecil D. and Beulah (Neer) Porter. He spent his school years growing up in Morrison, IL, schools. He worked summers, from junior high and high school until when he was married, learning the painting business of his father, Cecil. He was still in the painting business until late this past summer. Danny was a self-made business man. He enjoyed life raising his boys himself who were his pride and joy. They were all he lived and worked for the last 20 years of his life.
Survivors include his three sons, Danny E. Porter, Jr. of Sterling, Jason E. Porter of Dixon, IL, and Brent M. Porter of Frederick, OK; his mother, Beulah Porter of Morrison; one sister, Sheila D. (Marvin) Quinn of Rochelle, IL; one brother, Cecil Porter of Macomb, IL; five grandchildren, Brayden, Symantha, Zoey, Lily, and Adry; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 21, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, IL.
Burial will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rock River Hospice and Home.
