Cubs Enjoy Rockets and Hot Dogs

On Saturday, May 13, Morrison, IL, Cub Scout Pack #328 took advantage of the most glorious day of 2017–to date–and held a cookout and model rocket launch, at the Morrison Model Aircraft Fliers field in Morrison-Rockwood State Park.  Seven Cub Scouts from the 16 members were on hand for the initial demonstration launch, by Cubmaster Pastor Jamie Gallagher, of Prophetstown, IL.  He is shown at left.

Assistant Cubmaster is Mindy Hagerman of Morrison, shown with her son, Corwen.  He was the first boy to launch a rocket.  There were a few unsuccessful attempts before Gallagher replaced the starter.  Then, up it soared, out of view in a second!  Other children waited in an adjacent cornfield for the rocket’s return to Earth.  As it drew close, a red, plastic tail helped them locate it.

Hagerman mentioned two Cub Scout camping experiences this summer.  The program is designed for youth in Kindergarten through grade five.  Boys must be registered as Cub Scouts before attending.  Parents may call Pastor Gallagher at 630-200-3550 for details.
