Craig A. Haan, 69, of Morrison, IL, died after a year-and-a-half battle with cancer, on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling, IL.
Craig was born October 24, 1951, in Morrison, IL, to John and Esther (Shipma) Haan. He attended Morrison schools and then served in the U. S. Army National Guard for six years, from 1969 to 1975. On March 5, 1970, he married Vickie L. Rick at United Methodist Church in Prophetstown, IL. Craig farmed in the rural Morrison area for many years and later worked at Custom-Pak in Clinton, IA. He was a member of the Pork Producers and the Morrison American Legion, and he was a 4-H Leader for many years. Craig enjoyed wood-working, riding his Harley, working on his tractors, and tending to the many farm animals at home. He also enjoyed attending the Whiteside County Fair and horse events. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.
In honoring his brother Doug’s memory, Craig was actively involved in the Charlie Company 2nd Battalion, 5th Regiment, 1st Calvary Division Vietnam. The group worked to honor their brothers who had fallen during battle. Craig was passionate about this group, their bond, and the important work they do.
Survivors include his wife, Vickie; daughters, Holli (Jonathan Cox) of Morrison, and Elayna (Curtis) Breuning of Savanna, IL; sons, Darren Haan of Morrison and Wesley (Megan) Haan of Clinton; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, LaVonne (Kenny) Huizenga of Fulton, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harvey, Paul, Roger, and Doug Haan.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
Per Craig’s wishes there will be no public Services at this time; there will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date.
The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial to Rock River Hospice and Home in Sterling, IL, has been established.
