BottlesVaccineBy Monday, January 11, 2021, the anticipated novel corona virus vaccination of residents and staff of three, Morrison, IL, long-term care facilities was accomplished.  This occurred less than a month after the first vaccinations against COVID-19 were administered in the United States!  Everyone, if they chose to, could receive their first round of the Pfizer vaccine, during Phase 1A of Statewide vaccine distribution.  Frontline healthcare workers also are included for vaccination during Phase 1A.

Most recent evaluations estimate approximately 850,000 Illinoisans qualify for Phase 1A.  The State estimates all interested residents in Phase 1A will be vaccinated in the coming weeks; there is no fee.

During Phase 1B, the State of Illinois will lower the age of eligibility by ten years, prioritizing residents age 65 and over.  Illinois has 1.3 million people who qualify as “frontline essential workers” and 1.9 million adults age 65 and over, totaling 3.2 million eligible Illinoisans.

On Saturday, January 2, COVID-19 vaccinations were administered at Pleasant View Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.  CVS Pharmacy administered doses to staff and 25 residents.  Social Service Director Brandi Burks reported “every resident wanted one.”

Residents and staff from Resthave Care & Rehabilitation, 408 Maple Avenue, received their first round of vaccine on Monday, January 11.  Walgreen Drug Store conducted this procedure.  “Residents were pleased to be getting the shots, giving hope for the near future, when they may be able to see their loved ones in person,” reported Marketing Director Karla Burn.

Long-term care facility resident Marvin Heun is shown receiving his initial vaccination against COVID-19.  Frontline essential worker and Resthave Administrator Jill Smith watched as she was vaccinated.
