In the car wash industry, the name of Black quickly comes to mind, due to the successful franchising chain that has led the industry for decades. Now the name of a child of Bob and Mary Black[, of Morrison, IL,] is reaching out into the franchising world, to expand the love and excitement for franchising that she has grown up with, and worked within, for the past 15 years.
Susan Black-Beth is leaving her position of COO of Super Wash, Inc., to join National Restaurant Development (NRD) Holdings, LLC as an operating partner.
Mrs. Beth joined Super Wash in 2000 to assist the converting of licensed car washes to franchisees. Interaction with the owners carried great challenges–in understanding and creating relationships that operate on trust and parallel goals for success.
She credits these years for helping her “to recognize a world that I really love. I love people and the different concepts out there. I have a passion for franchising!”
Susan’s passion is greatly magnified in the excitement that she generates when conveying the details about the future of the industry. NRD is the creation of CEO Aziz Hashim, who has become a multi-unit franchisor of such familiar names as Dominos Pizza, Checkers, and Popeyes Louisiana Kitchens, to name a few. Over the past three year, Hashim and Beth have crossed paths at industry functions, where often Beth was on the agenda as a speaker….
On [Monday,] January 19, [2015,] Hashim made [a] call to invite Beth to join his newly-formed adventure, and she immediately thought it was the ‘perfect fit.’ Past meetings had revealed the like philosophies and love for people that existed between the two….[T]he acceptance came without much hesitation.
Beth’s major responsibilities will evolve around surfacing new deals and opportunities that are attractive investments. The major investment search area will be restaurants, health and beauty, Senior care, education, and fitness. Once the investment is made, [she] will work closely with the new management teams, to establish strategies and coach and motivate the franchisees’ plans for the future.
Even though the change in employment removes her from the small town atmosphere that surrounds corporate Super Wash, she proudly admits that she will carry the values learned by growing up in a small community with her, wherever her travels may take her….”[T]hey will always be a part of who I am,” she remarked.
Beth credits this opportunity to the great support system of her husband Kevin, sons Andrew (3rd grade) and Branden (1st grade), and the family members back in Morrison, who have believed in her and allowed her the chance to grow and succeed in the franchising business.
In closing, Susan stated, “I am doing what my family has raised me to do…be a risk taker and rise to a challenge.”
