AdOneLogoAdvantage One Credit Union, celebrates its 56th year in operation, since its organization on June 2, 1960, as Morrison General Electric Employees Federal Credit Union.  Originally housed inside General Electric building facilities, expansion necessitated a move to a separate building at 207 Larch Street, Morrison, IL, in September 1968.  Thirty years later, the Credit Union changed its charter to a  State Chapter and to a Community Charter at the same time.  Membership requirements were changed to provide greater eligibility.  Along with that came a new name:  AdvantaGE One Credit Union.

The current location is 204 N. Jackson Street, where its annual Community Appreciation Cookout was held on Saturday, July 23, 2016, from noon to 2:00 p.m.  Board  members, Volunteers, and some of the eight Staff members prepared hot dogs and served food.  The bounce house and a Drop Zone Express game board offered fun for children.

So did the fire engine and Police squad.  The day was an opportunity to honor local First Responders.  Fire Fighter Joe Bielema, left, and Police Officer Kevin Soenksen represented their Departments.  Bielema noted the men “let kids check out our vehicles.”

The Credit Union collected canned items for the Morrison Friends Food Pantry.  A new program called “Stuff the Bus” runs through Saturday, August 13.  Community donors are invited to drop off any school supplies for Morrison students in grades kindergarten through grade 12.
