Morrison Hospital Auxiliary will be having a “Jewelry is Fun” show in the hospital lobby, 303 N. Jackson Street, on Friday, May 17. The show will open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 4:00 p.m. Along with jewelry, there will be other items for sale including scarves, and other sundry items. The cost of each item is $5. We encourage you to come see all the items being offered. The Auxiliary will receive a percentage of the total sales for the day. Proceeds benefit the Morrison High School scholarship fund.
Opening Day Celebration of the Morrison Farmers’ Market is Saturday, May 18, from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. This week you will find a great selection of plants, herbs, hanging flower baskets, asparagus, rhubarb, cheese, baked goods, breads, honey, and one-of-a-kind gifts made by our local artisans. In celebration of Opening Day, the first 100 visitors to the market receive a free plant. Stop by this week’s featured vendor’s stand, Poci’s Market, and sign up to win a hanging basket. Poci’s is a long-time market vendor, featuring a huge selection of produce, garden plants, and flowers. The market is open every Saturday, beginning May 18, through October 5, rain or shine, behind Morrison’s Heritage Museum, 202 E. Lincolnway. Morrison Fire Department will host its Annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, May 19, from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Fire Station, 206 W. Main Street. There is no fee, simply a donation request. Pancakes, eggs, sausage, orange juice, milk, and coffee are on the menu.
Hospice of the Rock River Valley Memorial Service, honoring loved ones who died during the past year, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 19, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 2200 16th Avenue, Sterling, IL. The service is open to anyone who has lost a loved one.
First Presbyterian Church, 100 E. Lincolnway, will host a Spring Fling Street Festival on Sunday, May 19, at 11:30 a.m., following the morning service. Join us for some family fun with kids games, a bounce house, food, and a celebration of the graduating seniors.
