Coan E. Dow (1947 – 2014)

coan dowCoan E. (Rick) Dow, 66, bid farewell to this world at her home in Delray Beach, FL, on January 9, 2014, with her loving daughter, Christina, and caregiver, Mariola, by her side. For twelve years she battled cancer courageously.

Coan was born June 1, 1947, in Morrison, IL, to the late Gloria and Kenneth Rick. She was a graduate of both Morrison High School and the Patricia Stevens Career College and Finishing School in Milwaukee, WI. After her studies, Coan became a flight attendant for American Airlines for seven years, and ultimately, had a very successful 25-year career as a court reporter in both Boston, MA, and South Florida. She had a real love for animals and rescued many, bringing them into her home to become part of her family.

Survivors include her loving husband, James C. Dow of Boston, MA; her daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Guillaume Zublema, of Los Angeles, CA; her dear friend and caregiver, Mariola; her sister, Colleen; her niece Gloria and husband, Mike; two great nephews, Connor and Jacob, great niece Erika; her pets, Simba, Katrina and Oscar; many loving friends.

Coan was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, cousin, friend, and confidant. She is deeply missed by all.

MEMORIAL SERVICE:  10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014, at First Presbyterian Church in Morrison, IL

OFFICIATING:  Pastor Jim Camp

VISITATION:  There will be no visitation. 

The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

INTERMENT:  Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
