Posted by

On Monday, August 28, 2017, Morrison Tech welcomed their largest class in ten years.  This year brought an enrollment growth of 70% over the prior year.

Among the new Class of 2019 are five Karate Black Belts, three Eagle Scouts, and a magician.  Students come from 45 high schools and three states.  Twelve students are attending as relatives of a Morrison alumnus.  First generation students, who are the first to attend college in their family, account for 49% of the class.  As a class, they have visited 48 of the 50 states.

We also have a family divided.  There are 47% Cubs fans and 44% Cardinal fans, which makes for an interesting environment.

A few outstanding facts about this class:  on ACT tests, the members scored 51% higher than the State average; 72% volunteer; seven have chosen to attend college while raising a family.

This course of study breakdown is 52% Mechanical Engineering Technology; 21% Construction Engineering Technology; 27% Network Administration.

At the end of their second semester, they will be one of the first to benefit from the new Innovation Center being constructed on campus.  The Innovation Center will break ground this Fall and is estimated to be up and running Spring of 2018.

Beyond these stats, of course, are real people, young adults looking to change their and others’ lives.  They are people with determination, integrity, and goals.

The Class of 2019 has been on campus only a week, but it is already clear they will make their own mark on Morrison Tech.
