clarence wernerClarence Werner, 73, of Morrison, IL, died Thursday, November 28, 2013, at his home in Morrison.

Clarence was born April 16, 1940, in Clinton, IA, to Herbert M. and Orpha (Bratthauer) Werner.  He was a 1958 graduate of Miles High School in Miles, IA.  On September 16, 1962, he married Joyce Bates in Clinton.  He later married Judy Nelson-Carlson on July 25, 1986, in Morrison.  Clarence began farming in Andover, IA, along with his brother.  He then moved with his family to Garden Plain, IL, and worked at Bunge in Albany, IL.  After retiring in 2008, he continued farming near Morrison.  He was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Morrison.  While he lived in Garden Plain, he was active with the Albany Lions Club and the volunteer fire department.  He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge #363, both in Clinton.  He was a member of the Lake Erie Country Club and was a proud member of the “FS Coffee Clan” that met in Morrison in the mornings.  Clarence enjoyed farming, golfing, and spending time with his family.  He enjoyed spending winters in Lake Havasu, AZ, where he could continue golfing.

Survivors include his wife, Judy; one daughter, Norine (Jeff) Werner-Silton of Newton, MA; six sons, Jerry Carlson of Bushnell, IL, Gary (Greg Byers) Carlson of Evanston, IL, Steven (Melissa) Werner of Fulton, IL, Phillip (Jennifer) Carlson of Rock Falls, IL, Mark (Christine) Werner of Fulton, and Nels Carlson of Hooppole, IL; five grandchildren, Rachal and Blake Werner, David Spooner, Audra Bender, and Nelson Carlson; one great-grandchild, Isabella Spooner; three sisters, Vera Yadoff of Camanche, IA, Ramona Von Sprecken of Maquoketa, IA, and Irene Nielsen of Clinton; sister/brother-in-law, Joyce (Paul) Aller of Moline, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Hazel Nelson; one grandson, Cameron Bender; one sister; Marian Werner; three brothers, Lloyd, Herbert and Eldon Werner; one sister-in-law, Doris Werner; four brothers-in-law, Eldon Yadoff, Glen Von Sprecken, Norman Nielsen, Vernon Nelson.

FUNERAL SERVICE:  10:30 a.m., Monday, December 2, 2013, at Bethesda Lutheran Church, Morrison, IL

OFFICIATING:  Pastor Bob Burton, Bethesda Lutheran Church, Morrison, IL

VISITATION:  4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 1, 2013, at Bethesda Lutheran Church, Morrison, IL.  The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

INTERMENT:  Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
