Clarence R. Harridge, 88, of Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at Big Meadows Nursing Home in Savanna, IL.
Clarence was born July 13, 1932, in Whiteside County, IL, to John B. and Susie L. (Van Doren) Harridge. He was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools. Clarence married Ruby F. Roggendorf on April 11, 1951, in Morrison. She died February 15, 1971. He then married Carol A. Krongard on June 10, 1972, in Morrison. Clarence was engaged in farming in the rural Morrison area. While farming, he also was employed by International Harvester in East Moline, IL, retiring in 1982. Clarence was a 69-year member of First Baptist Church in Morrison, where he served as Deacon, and was active in the Macedonia Program Ministries. He also was a member of Morrison Lions Club. Clarence raised, bred, and raced harness horses.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; daughters, Susan (Steve) Kammerer of Prophetstown, IL, and June Fowler of Morrison; sons, Richard (Merri) Harridge and Doug Harridge both of Morrison; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister-in-law, Mary Leeper of Clinton, IA; brother-in-law, Dick (Jane) Krongard of West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruby; son, Mark Harridge; sisters, Mary Spangler, Ruby Grady, Dorothy Schaver, Katherine Roete, Alice Leahy, and Frances Fredericks; brothers, Paul and John Harridge.
A private family funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church in Morrison, IL, with Rev. Dick Adams officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2020, at First Baptist Church, in which we ask everyone to practice social distancing and wear a face mask.
Interment will be at the Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL.
The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial has been established to First Baptist Church.
