Clarence Porter, Jr., 82, of Morrison, IL, died Saturday, November 29, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center North in Clinton, IA.
Clarence was born January 31, 1932, in Broughton, IL, to Clarence S. and Rose Mary (Allen) Porter. He was educated in the Broughton Grade Schools. He married Margaret Rodgers on June 23, 1951, in Benton, IL. Clarence worked in the oil fields in southern Illinois for six years. He then was employed as a welder for the former Northwestern Steel and Wire Company of Sterling, IL, for 30 years, until retiring in 1988. Clarence started farming south of Morrison in 1968 and farmed until his health issues forced his retirement. He was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church and loved his church. He loved his family, enjoyed traveling, and spending winters in Florida and Arizona. Clarence enjoyed playing dominos once a week with friends, which included a lunch time at the “host’s” home.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; one daughter, Mary Lindstrom, and one son, Steve (RoAnn) Porter, both of Morrison; five grandchildren, Joshua (Tina) Shave, Matthew (Nicole) Lindstrom, Heather (Ben) Engwall, Justin (Jessica) Porter, Holly (Matt) Porter; six great-grandchildren, Nathan Schave, Michael Schave, Madalyn Porter, Isabella Porter, Maya Engwall, and Stella Engwall.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons-in-law, Richard Lindstrom and Roy Houseright; one sister, Billie Rose Neal; one brother, John Porter, in infancy.

VISITATION: 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at the Morrison Chapel, Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home
INTERMENT: Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
