Clara Belle Goodenough, age 86 of Morrison, IL, passed away, Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Resthave Nursing Home in Morrison.
Clara was born on February 28, 1931, to Rensie and Ella Geerts. She graduated from Morrison High School in 1948. She married Orville Goodenough, Jr. on November 26, 1950. She and her husband farmed on the O-Good Holstein Farm on Garden Plain Road, until retiring in 2000, and continued to live there until her death. Clara served as an election judge for Union Grove Twp. for almost 40 years and was an election judge for many years at the Whiteside County Fair. She was an active member of the former Whiteside County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee and in 1981 was the Farm Woman of the Year. She was an active member of the Morrison Presbyterian Church and taught Sunday School for nearly 20 years. Clara was an active member of the UPW and the Sage Guild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Don and Paul Geerts; sister, Ruth Ann Wiersema; son-in-law, Loren Anderson; great-granddaughter in infancy.
She is survived by daughter, Cathy Anderson of Dixon, IL; sons, Philip (Zarina) Goodenough of Rock Island, IL, and Steve (Lisa) Goodenough of Morrison; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; her brother, Larry Geerts.
Her body has been given to Department of Biological Science at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL.
Visitation will be at First Presbyterian Church in Morrison, IL, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 30, 2017.
A Memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Morrison, IL, at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 30, 2017.
A memorial fund has been established for Stronghold Presbyterian Camp at Oregon, IL.
