The Morrison, IL, City Council met on Monday, April 12, 2021, without Alderman Mick Welding, in an environment of anticipation.  They will finalize plans for the new Main Street construction that begins in a couple weeks; review the Preliminary Budget for the upcoming 2022 year; prepare to welcome Scott Vandermyde as the new Mayor of Morrison.

Chief of Police Brian Melton announced the hiring of a new officer.  Terry “TJ” Spencer will join the force on Monday, April 26.

City Administrator Barry Dykhuizen, announced that Monday, April 26, would be the start date for the downtown renovation of Main Street.  Early construction will concentrate on installing the water main, beginning on Orange Street and working east to Cherry Street  and street construction beginning on Orange Street between Lincolnway and the railroad.

In Action items, the Council authorized the Mayor or Designee to seek bids and enter into negotiation, to continue the Municipal Electric Aggregation Load, with similar communities.  The current contract expires in September.

Aldermen approved renewal of a one-year employee Health Plan with Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Dykhuizen presented the Preliminary 2022 City Budget with various line item explanations of the proposed revenues of $1,668,341.  The Preliminary Budget was approved.  Tthe Council will approve the final Adjusted Budget for 2022 on Monday, April 26, 2021.
