Morrison Historical Society Trustees held a group decorating party, Tuesday, November 21, 2017, prior the the Board meeting. In less than an hour, the entire first floor of Morrison’s Heritage Museum, 202 E. Lincolnway, Morrison, IL, was transformed for Christmas. Trustees will host an Open House on Saturday, December 2, as part of the Christmas Walk and Lighted Parade.
Hot cider and cookies will be offered to visitors who need a warm–and impressive–spot to await the 5:00 tree lighting and community caroling across the street. The museum will be open from 4:00 until 7:30 p.m. There is so much to see!
Summit cooking and heating stoves were manufactured in Morrison.
Ice boxes also were manufactured here. The museum has various models, which sold at different price points. The covered table was made at Volkmann Furniture; the school desk was a local fabrication, too. The late Eddie Schuler’s invention, the black and silver, Master Farmer pump, had a long, successful career.
Trophies from the former Morrison Country Club and Prairie Ridge Golf Course showcase the love of golf.
The Hearth Room, with its wood-burning fireplace, holds Morrison items that focus on the arts. The violin belonged to Wilma Lucas, an airplane pilot and owner of The Brick House restaurant. Roswell Goodenough’s violin is here, too, with a photograph of him holding it. Violins were manufactured in Morrison years ago.
