Christmas Walks Come to Fulton

ONE:  The annual Christmas Walk will be held Friday, December 6, 2013, in downtown Fulton, IL, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. 

TWO:  Christmas at Fulton’s Heritage Canyon will be held Saturday, December 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and with an Illuminated Walk from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  The Canyon is at 515 N. 4th Street.  A free shuttle service will convey visitors during Saturday night’s Illuminated Walk from the windmill to the Canyon and back.  

Thirty wreaths decorated by local businesses and organizations will be on display the night of the Christmas Walk, at the Fulton Masonic Lodge, 1014 4th Street.  Wreaths will be part of a Silent Auction, with proceeds benefiting new downtown Christmas lights.

Additional downtown activities include a live ice-carving demonstration (11th Avenue and 4th Street), a live Nativity (12th Avenue and 4th Street) by Second Reformed Church, and holiday music. 

Visitors can enjoy stopping by many of the local merchants to do some holiday shopping and enjoy a light refreshment.

xmas charactersChildren can visit with Santa Claus at Krumpets (1016 4th Street), ride on the holiday train, enjoy a puppet show at State Farm Insurance (1113 4th Street), and search for The Grinch and Gingerbread Man.

The Robert Fulton Community Center (former Fire Station) will host an arts and craft show on Friday evening and again on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The Fulton Boy Scouts are providing a soup and sandwich supper at the Robert Fulton Community Center.  Harbor Crest will host a bake sale at the Fulton Township Building (4th Street and 10th Avenue), and Granny’s Sugar Shack will be selling Kettle Corn.

The 9th Annual Illuminated Christmas Run/Walk will start at 6:30 p.m.  Registration for the two-mile run/walk is available by visiting www.getmeregistered.com or register the night of the event at Manny’s Too, 305 11th Avenue, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

 At 7:00, Second Reformed Church, 703 14th Avenue, will host a Family Christmas Simulcast of holiday music and messages.

Activities continue on Saturday, December 7, starting with “Breakfast with Santa” at the Fulton Fire Station (1802 16th Avenue) from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.  Schmaling Memorial Library, 501 10th Avenue, will have a Children’s Story Hour at 11:00 a.m.

The Windmill Cultural Center will be open on Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., featuring a wood-carving demonstration and exhibit.
