To Whiteside County Residents:
I am writing in support of Kris Schmidt as our next Whiteside County Sheriff.
I have had the privilege to serve in law enforcement now for more than 26 years. I have served from within several law enforcement positions, and for the first 18 years, I served from within a County Sheriff’s Office to include Interim Sheriff and Chief Deputy. I know that serving as Sheriff requires integrity, professionalism, leadership, and commitment.
Kris has integrity. Kris understands discretion and reasonableness. Kris does what is right even through adversity and when it may not be the most popular decision.
Kris is a constant professional. Kris treats everyone with respect, is courteous, and [is] fair. I have witnessed Kris’s law enforcement career as a Deputy Sheriff, Sergeant, and Instructor. He certainly welcomes a challenge but has always been a true professional.
Kris is a servant leader. Kris leads by example through his actions and by bringing people together. He does not ask something of another that he would not do himself. Kris is quick to help another whether it is an officer or a citizen needing assistance.
Kris is undoubtedly committed to serving our Whiteside County community through his law enforcement professionalism, his farm, and his family.
I am proud to consider Kris a friend and a fellow law enforcement professional.
