The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that IL Route 78 (Cherry Street) in Morrison, IL, will be closed to all through traffic from Tuesday, December 20, through Thursday, December 22, 2016.
The closure will allow the Union Pacific (UP) Railroad to perform emergency maintenance to their at-grade crossing, located between Wall Street and Market Street.
To allow continued traffic movement, a detour will be marked on IL 78, Wall Street, Orange Street, Genesee Street , and U. S. 30 (Lincoln Highway). To facilitate a rapid road closure, detour signing will be erected by the evening of Monday, December 19. The detour will be in effect the morning of Tuesday, December 20.
Drivers are asked to be alert for the road closure and use alternate roadways when traveling in this area.
