Charles Roger Martin, “Bubba,” age 65 of Sterling, IL, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2014, at the University of Chicago Medical Center after a long battle with Leukemia.
He was born May 15, 1949, in Dixon, IL, the son of Ebbie and JoAnne (Turner) Martin. He served in the United States Army as 1st Calvary Sergeant during the Vietnam War from 1968-1972. He married Diane L. Mager February 18, 1983. He recently retired from IDOT as a Maintenance Maintainer after 12 years of service.
Roger and Diane are currently proprietors of Da′ Place in Rochelle, IL, and Da′ Bar in Morrison, IL. Roger had many interests; he bowled for 30+ years and played on many pool leagues. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, camping, and especially time with his grandkids.
He will always be looking over his wife, Diane; son, Tod of Green Bay, WI; daughter, Amber Hadaway (Cal Stage) of Sterling; son Terry Hadaway of Sterling; one granddaughter, Makaley Mikru, and one grandson, Daylen Stage, both of Sterling; one sister, Phyllis Streeval of Franklin, IL; all his good friends.
He was greeted in heaven by his parents and two sisters, Mary Jane and Florence.
A memorial service will take place on Sunday, December 28, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the American Legion in Rock Falls, IL.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his memory.
