Chandler to Address Women’s Strength and Courage

Posted by

Carol Chandler returns on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 6:30 p.m., to Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison, Morrison, IL, for a third enlightening presentation. Researcher Chandler will present “Women: Their Strength and Courage in Building Our Country.”

She previously spoke at the library about the Orphan Train and about German POWs held in this area during World War II.

Admission to the program is free. A question and answer session will follow.

Chandler will explain how early settlements in our Country were failing, because men were transient and did not form stable communities, due to the lack of women. Women were sent into the wilderness to stabilize the settlements and allow them to grow and prosper.

The King of France even sent “casket girls” from his Country to Louisiana. The term “casket girls” was a corruption of the French “filles a la cassette” or “women with suitcases.”

From the late 1700s to the Gold Rush in Alaska, women changed the path of our Country’s history.
