The Morrison Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the Citizen of the Year Award. All nominees and the winners will be honored at the Morrison Chamber of Commerce Networking Event and Annual Meeting, scheduled for Thursday, January 17, 2019, at Morrison Institute of Technology, 701 Portland Avenue, Morrison, IL.
Nomination forms can be downloaded at www.morrisonchamber.com/citizen or are available at the Morrison Chamber of Commerce office, Morrison City Hall, or Odell Public Library. The nomination deadline is Friday, January 3, 2019.
The “Citizen of the Year” award will recognize an individual with these characteristics.
- A person who continually volunteers his or her time, dedication, and talents to the town and the citizens of the town, to make Morrison a great place to live, work, play, and learn.
- A person who has made a positive difference to the lives of fellow citizens.
- Someone who is dedicated to Morrison and concerned for others. They may serve on service, school, church, or community committees.
- A person who has shown a willingness to work with other Morrison residents, who is enthusiastic about the town and its citizens, and who works continually towards the betterment of the community.
- A person with the qualities of honesty and integrity.
In choosing the recipient, regard will be given to the nominees’ achievements in the year immediately prior to receiving the award, as well as their past achievements and ongoing contributions to the community. The individual(s) recognized need not be a member of the Morrison Chamber of Commerce or the business community.
A nominee only need be nominated once to be considered. The number of nominations received per nominee will bear no weight in their selection.
The public is invited to attend the Morrison Chamber of Commerce’s Wine and Beer Tasting, Networking Event and Annual Meeting on January 17.
