The Whiteside County SWCD Education Foundation is offering a workshop on chainsaw safety and tree felling on Saturday, February 24, 2018. The workshop will be held at 7395 Albany Road, Erie, IL, at the farm of Paul Youngs. The class will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided, however attendees must bring their own ear and eye protection.
The session will be taught by ISA certified Arborist, Norm Hall. The workshop will cover start-up procedure, pre-start check, personal protective equipment, chainsaw safety features and reactive forces, proper stance and grip, and cutting techniques.
There will be a raffle at the end of the session for a CS-490-18 Chainsaw and PPT-2620 Power Pruner. Raffle tickets are $10 for one or $25 for three. Entrants do not need to be present to win. There will also be door prizes handed out through out the class such as safety kits, hard hats, gloves, chaps, and goggles.
