CGH Medical Center has, 101 E. LeFevre Road, Sterling, IL, been recognized by the QOPI Certification Program (QCP™), an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO.) Certification was awarded for successfully completing a three-year certification program. The goal was recertification in outpatient hematology-oncology practices, that meet Nationally recognized standards for quality cancer care.
In applying for certification, CGH Hematology/Oncology participated in a voluntary, comprehensive site assessment, against clearly-specified standards that are consistent with National guidelines. CGH Medical Center was successful in meeting the standards and objectives of QCP.
“We’re very proud of this recertification, as it emphasizes our commitment to provide the highest level of care for our patients,” said Dr. Mir Alikhan, FACP.

To become certified, CGH had to submit to an evaluation of their entire practice and documentation standards. The QCP staff and steering group members then verify–through on-site inspection–that the evaluation and documents are correct. QCP verified that the practices met core standards in these areas:
- treatment planning
- staff training and education
- chemotherapy orders and drug preparation
- patient consent and education
- safe chemotherapy administration
- monitoring and assessment of patient well-being.
“ASCO’s QOPI certification recognizes oncology practices that demonstrated their commitment to the highest quality and safety excellence, as well as to the continuous process of quality improvement.”
