CGH Medical Center officially announced they will open a family medicine practice in downtown Mount Carroll, IL, hopefully by late summer 2015. The new clinic with be the newest of 16 family medicine clinics in the surrounding CGH service area, that provide quality care to our outlying rural communities.
Dr. Paul Steinke, President and CEO of CGH Medical Center said, “We have identified a need for general family medical care within our service area, which is the community of Mount Carroll and its surroundings. We are so excited to be able to bring an excellent family medicine physician to this community, along with a physician assistant. This clinic will be staffed full-time to provide quality medical services to the residents of Mount Carroll and its surrounding neighbors.”

The lease is to rent two storefronts of the Bess Professional Building on E. Market Street.
Dr. Aja Murphy, D.O., will staff the clinic three days a week as the primary physician. A physician’s assistant will be there five days a week to see same-day appointments and minor illnesses and injuries. Two nurses and office personnel will also be at the location, which will be open Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
Dr. Murphy received her Doctor of Osteopathy from Midwestern University of Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in Chicago, IL. She completed her residence in Family Medicine at Bay Regional Medical Center in Bay City, MI. She currently practices at the CGH Main Clinic in Sterling, IL. Dr. Murphy is now available for new patients to establish and be seen, either at this time in Sterling or in Mount Carroll at a later date.
Remodeling of the building began Monday, May 4, 2015. It will have six exams rooms and lab and x-ray spaces.
