CGH Medical Center Opens New Emergency Department

The new CGH Emergency Department has opened.  In the event of an emergency, the public is encouraged to use the new Emergency entrance located off of 2nd Avenue, under the new canopy that says EMERGENCY, between East Miller Road and East LeFevre Road, Sterling, IL.

The Illinois Department of Public Health has approved the expansion and renovation of CGH Medical Center’s Emergency Department.  Patients will be seen in the newly-completed Emergency Department starting Tuesday, April 7.

The 22,500 square foot department will feature

  • 26 private treatment rooms
  • two trauma rooms containing two-to-three additional beds
  • six patient Easy Care (EC) bays
  • three triage rooms
  • streamlined patient registration and triage processes.

“We are committed to meeting our expanding patient needs,” stated Cindy Zander, CGH Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.  “The newly-designed ED will better serve our communities long into the future.”
