Pastor Mike Winkelman will officiate his last service at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 601 N. Jackson Street, Morrison, IL, on Sunday, December 30, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. Members of the community are invited to fill the pews for a memorable send-off. He will retire on Monday, December 31, after serving the congregation for more than 30 years.
“Pastor Winkelman is known for his genuine, loving guidance and care for all the souls affiliated with St. Peter [Evangelical Lutheran Church],” said Debra Wagenecht, St. Peter Parish Assistant. She has served alongside Pastor Winkelman his entire 30 years at the church. “We will miss his leadership but wish him a joyous retirement.”
During Pastor Winkelman’s tenure, the congregation has grown both spiritually and in membership. The church has met its mortgage obligation in full; completed a building expansion project; sent four sponsored missionaries through college. Pastor Winkelman also enjoyed a joint ministry with his son, Pastor Mark Winkelman, from 2009 to 2017.
