Church Women United will celebrate 2016 May Friendship Day at Bethseda Lutheran Church, 301 W. South Street, Morrison, IL, on Friday, May 6, 2016. Following the 12:30 p.m. luncheon, the program begins at 1:30.
The theme is “Grace at the Table” and will feature Carol Siefken, Director of the Sauk Valley Food Bank. The Presbyterian Women are in charge of the program.
We will also learn about the “Least Coin.” A special offering will be taken.
May Friendship Day dates back to May 1933, when two independent groups sponsored the luncheon, expanding until 1939, when they merged under the National Council of Christian Women. In May 1945, after the founding of Church Women United, the celebration was formalized as May Fellowship Day. In 1999 Church Women United changed the name of the movement to May Friendship Day, as we continue to celebrate unity to our journey toward wholeness in all communities.
May Friendship Day is celebrated on the first Friday in May around the world.
Please join the Church Women United for an afternoon of good food, good programs and music, and good fellowship.
