Celebrate Child Abuse Survivors at April House

Posted by

Executive Director Carrie Melton submitted this press release.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.  April House Children’s Advocacy Center will recognizing the month with a “Pinwheels for Prevention” event on Friday, April 12, 2019, at 12:15 p.m., at April House, 501 N Madison Street, Morrison, IL.  You are invited as a participant to “plant” a pinwheel in the front yard.  The pinwheel is the National symbol for child abuse prevention.

This year, 142 pinwheels will be planted, to represent the 142 children served at April House in 2018.  April House is the only agency of its kind in Whiteside County.  The Center works closely with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals to investigate, coordinate, and provide resources, in cases involving child sexual abuse, severe child physical abuse, sexual exploitation, child pornography, neglect, and exposure to violence.

The event is free and open to the public.  Enjoy a pinwheel pastry and beverage.

If you would like to sponsor a pinwheel for $5, visit the April House Facebook page or through PayPal:  paypal.com/us/fundraiser/charity/1494564.

Support the work of April House during a fundraiser at Buffalo Wild Wing on Wednesday, April 10.

April House is a United Way Partner Agency.
