Explore the world of home brewing while learning the basics to produce quality beer. Clinton Community College will offer Basics of Home Brewed Beer. Participants will learn what goes into making beer from a standard recipe kit, how to use the basic equipment, and how to bottle homemade beer for future enjoyment.
You will have the opportunity to use basic beer-making equipment, learn about different beer styles, and tour a local brewery. This course includes all informational material. At the conclusion, you will have beer made during the class to take home.
Basics of Home Brewed Beer will be offered four weeks beginning Thursday, April 6, 2017, through Thursday, April 27, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The course number is #183544, and the cost is $79 per person. Each class will be held at Clinton Community College, 1000 Lincoln Boulevard, Clinton, IA, other than the Thursday, April 13, session. This is titled “Introduction to Craft Beer Styles,” and will be held at Hy-Vee Market Grill, 901 S. 4th Street, Clinton, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
In Introduction to Craft Beer Styles, participants will learn the difference between lager and stout beers. IPA’s will be explored as well as other styles of beer that are in the craft beer market. Learn about the ingredients that go into different styles, and taste samples from a variety of craft breweries. Participants must be 21 year of age. Cost for this individual class is $15, and the class number is #183603. It is included in the Basics of Home Brewed Beer course.
