Catherine Marie Temple, 97, of Morrison, IL, died Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation. in Morrison.

Catherine was born September 13, 1927, in Morrison, to Ralph and Nancy (Tillema) Slager.  She attended Franklin Corner’s one-room school and graduated from Morrison High School in 1945.  On June 16, 1946, she married Elmer G. Temple in Fairhaven, IL.  They shared their lives for over 70 years, until Elmer’s passing on February 7, 2017.  She was a dedicated partner in their farming operation in the Garden Plain, IL, area. Her deep faith and commitment to her community were evident in her lifelong service.  She was an active member of Garden Plain Church, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School, served as Sunday School Superintendent, established and organized the church library, and helped coordinate a joint Bible School, with Newton Reformed Church at Garden Plain School, which served 140 children.  After 40 years of service there, she became a member of Morrison United Methodist Church, assisting with computer work, office duties, and serving on the Memorial Committee, Mission Committee, and Ad Council.  Catherine enjoyed traveling with her husband; after moving to town, she spent much of her time sewing.

Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie Adams of Geneseo, IL, and Becky (Stephen) Dickhut of Port Byron, IL; son, Donald (Karen) Temple of Fulton, IL; nine grandchildren, Lisa (Chris) Davis, Lori (Bryan) Phillips, Jeff (Dawn) Dickhut, Brian Dickhut, Dave (Karen) Dickhut, Laura Temple, Tonya (Aaron) Krueger, Doug (Abrigail) Temple, and Krista (Kyle) Wiebenga; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elmer; son-in-law, Stephen Adams; sisters, Alene Rahn and Barbara Snyder Kramer; brothers, Harold and Wilber Slager.

Her Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Morrison United Methodist Church, with Rev. Sun-ah Kang, Pastor of the Morrison United Methodist Church, officiating.

A Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral.

The Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.

A memorial has been established to Morrison United Methodist Church.
