Catherine B. Wells, 90, of Morningside in Sterling, IL, formerly of Morrison, IL, died Sunday, March 3, 2019, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.
Catherine was born October 2, 1928, in Morrison, IL, to Charles M. and Katherine (Smith) Birely. She graduated from Morrison High School and attended a Business College in the Quad City area. Catherine married Laurence J. “Pee Wee” Wells on April 22, 1949, in Arlington, VA. He died May 11, 2001. She worked for over 40 years at Sterling Federal Bank in Sterling, and was the branch manager at Sterling Federal in Morrison. Catherine was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She enjoyed traveling and visited all continents but Antarctica. She was an avid bowler and a cat lover.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Jo Heller of Morrison; two grandchildren, Mark and Michelle Heller; a special friend, John Rutt of Sterling, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Dolores Wells in infancy; one sister, Evelyn Donahue; four brothers, Charles, Virgil, Dewayne, and Keith Birely.
Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 8, 2019, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home with Bishop Matt Howze of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2019, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home.
Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison, IL.
A memorial has been established by the family.
