Caroline L. Williams, 74, died Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Rock River Hospice & Home in Sterling, IL.
She was born on August 18, 1947, in West Palm Beach, FL, the daughter of Harold George and Dorothy Letitia (Barncroft) Iversen. Caroline attended St. Juliana Elementary School in West Palm Beach; Dyess, TX, Air Force Base (elementary school on base); Presque Isle, MA, Air Force Base (elementary school on base); Miami Palmetto High School, Miami, FL; Palm Beach Junior College, West Palm Beach, where she had studied Interior Design. She married Gilman P. Williams on February 24, 1968, at Homestead Air Force Base in FL. Caroline and Gil moved to Rock Falls, IL, in 1968, where she became a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church. She began working at the family business as a Secretary at Williams Auto Body and later becoming CEO. Caroline loved sewing, cross stitch, visiting the beach, turtle watching, and hunting sea shells.
Survivors include her husband, Gilman; daughter Shelley (Ryan) McCarty of Rock Falls; son, Scott (Kara) Williams of Morrison, IL; six grandchildren, Noah, Hannah, and Lauren McCarty and Gammon, Tynlee, and Briley Williams; sister-in-law, Robyn Meinen.
Caroline was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Patricia Iversen Read.
Memorials may be made in her memory to St. Andrew Catholic Church or to her grandchildren’s higher education school funding.
Casual and Floridian attire is encouraged for the Visitation on Sunday, October 3, 2021, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, IL.
Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Monday, October 4, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., in St. Andrew Catholic Church, with the Reverend Richard M. Russo officiating.
