Carol Jo Fisk (1936 – 2016)

carol fiskCarol Jo Fisk, 80, of Liberty Court in Dixon, IL, formerly of Prophetstown, IL, died Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Liberty Court.

Carol was born February 14, 1936, in Morrison, IL, to John and Phern (Newendyke) Tenboer. She was educated in the rural Whiteside County grade schools and was a graduate of Lyndon High School in Lyndon, IL. Carol married George William “Bill” Fisk on August 3, 1957, in Morrison. He died September 28, 1991. She was employed at a bank in Prophetstown in her early years and was a homemaker. Carol was a member of Prophetstown United Methodist Church where she assisted with offertory. She enjoyed Mr. and Mrs. at the church on Sunday evenings, her Bible Study, and her circle. She always helped with many dinners at the church. Carol enjoyed watching the Cubs as much as she could and going to a few games in Chicago, IL, St. Louis, MO, Cincinnati, OH, and Milwaukee, WI, with her son, Tom. She enjoyed embroidering, reading many Christian books, and doing word searches. She enjoyed going for car rides, especially to Tom’s home and the Amana Colonies. Carol loved her grandchildren dearly.

Survivors include one daughter, Tammarra (Dan) Hinrichs of Sterling, IL; two sons, Timothy R. Fisk of Prophetstown and Thomas B. Fisk of Rockford, IL; four grandchildren, Benjamin Fisk, Valarie Fisk, Abbie (Shawn) Heid, and Joshua Hinrichs; one great-grandson, Elmer Joseph Heid; one sister, Charlotte (Arlyn) Ackerman of Prophetstown; one sister-in-law, Mary (Wayne) Hook of Morrison; and one brother-in-law, David (Anita) Fisk of Prophetstown.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Vernon Tenboer.

FUNERAL SERVICE:  11:00 a.m., Monday, March 7, 2016, at Prophetstown United Methodist Church, Prophetstown, IL

OFFICIATING:  Rev. Oscar N. Carrasco, Pastor of Prophetstown United Methodist Church

VISITATION:  9:30 a.m., Monday, March 7, 2016, until the time of the service, at Prophetstown United Methodist Church

INTERMENT:  Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown, IL

The Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
