Carol A. Meurs, 79, of Fulton, IL, died Monday, July 4, 2022, at her home.
Carol was born August 9, 1942, in Morrison, IL, to Andrew and Jeannette (Dykstra) Bielema. She was educated in the Cottonwood Grade Schools. She was an 8th grade graduate of Unity Christian School and graduated from Fulton High School in 1960. She married Edward W. Meurs at First Christian Reformed Church in Fulton, on August 2, 1963. Carol’s first job was at Burpees Seed in Clinton, IA, and then she worked at Fidelity Life. She was a Bookkeeper at Central Bank, formerly Fulton State Bank, for a few years, until starting her family. She later rejoined until retiring to spend time with her granddaughter. She was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Fulton and was part of the Unity Christian School auxiliary. She also volunteered as a Pink Lady at Mercy Hospital for 24 years. Carol cherished spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne; daughter, Nicole Meurs of Fulton; son, Matthew (Carolyn) Meurs of Fulton; four grandchildren, Amaya and John Carter and Halle and Andrew Meurs; sister, Donna (Irv) Schaver of Georgetown, TX; brothers, Delbert Beilema of Morrison, and Don (Andra) Bielema of Sterling, IL; stepsister, Patricia (LaVerne) Pessman of Morrison; sister-in-law, Nancy Bielema of Rockton, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, John Vanderlaan; sons, Rodger and Greg Meurs; brother, Willard Bielema; stepsister, Janet Vanderlaan; stepbrother, David Vanderlaan.
There will be no Funeral service or Visitation. Cremation rites have been accorded.
A private family Graveside Service will be held at Fulton Township Cemetery in Fulton, IL.
The Fulton Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials have been established to Unity Christian School Music Program and Beacon of Hope Hospice in Davenport, IA.
