The Odell Public Library Friends invite local artists to participate in the library’s exciting new “Art for eReaders” project. This celebration of visual arts will raise money for the purchase of iPads, Nooks, and Kindles, for in-house use or check out from the library. Artists can support the library by creating a masterpiece on a 6 x 6-inch canvas, provided by the Friends at no cost.
Artists may paint, construct three-dimensional and sculptural work, do fiber work, photography, collages, or other techniques. Additional guidelines have been established by former MJHS art instructor Ned J. Nesti, Jr. Artists under 18 years of age must have a parent/guardian signature.
If you are interested in creating a canvas, stop by Odell Public Library, 307 S. Madison Street, Morrison, IL, beginning Wednesday, July 22, 2015, to pick up a canvas and an artist information packet. Canvases will be offered on a “first come, first served” basis. All artwork must be returned to Odell by Thursday, October 1.
Once all the works are collected, they will be showcased at Odell’s Annual Book and Bake Sale on Saturday, November 7, and then displayed in the library until Thursday, December 10. The public will be invited to purchase artwork throughout the duration of the exhibit for a $25 donation. All proceeds from the donated canvases will be used to purchase e-reading devices for Odell Public Library.
