Burnell Doden, 79 of Lehigh Acres, FL, died Monday, December 14, 2015.
Skeet was born on March 29, 1936, in Thomson, IL, to Merle and Ruby (Doty) Doden. He was educated in Morrison, IL, and graduated from Morrison High School in 1954. He married Patsy Allen, September 1, 1957. He served in the Air Force for four years, where he was stationed in Bermuda. Skeet was employed at Herman-Nelson in Morrison from 1955-1957. He was then employed at General Electric for 20 years. During that time, he was a professional photographer, doing weddings and portraits. In 1984, he moved to Florida to pursue his dream of owning his business in photography. He retired in 1990. He was a member at First Presbyterian Church in Morrison and was presently a member at Christ Community Church, where he enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching Sunday school. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching the Chicago White Sox. Often, he could be found working in the yard and enjoying the outdoors. He also enjoyed attending the air shows with his family.
He has survived by his wife, Pat; sons, David (Diane) of Lehigh Acres, and Jeffery (Starlet) of Fort Myers, FL; six grandchildren, Cara, Matthew, and Katie Doden and Tony, Amber, and Ashley Doden; two great-grandchildren, Tony Doden and Greyson Balakhani; one brother, Gary (Lorraine) Doden of Cortland, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents Merle and Ruby Doden.
A memorial service to celebrate Skee’s life will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015, at 4:30 p.m. at Christ Community Church, 4050 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL 33966.
