Attached, are the press releases from when I attended, working for the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office in Galena, IL, at that time.
There are other law enforcement administrators in Whiteside County that had attended the FBI NA that have since retired. I believe I am the only law enforcement administrator in Whiteside County (currently serving) with this training. Chief Tim Morgan, Sterling Police Department, attended the School for Police Staff and Command through Northwestern University, which is a similar “rival” program. Not sure about Rock Falls Chief Tammy Nelson.

Sheriff Steve Allendorf proudly announces that Chief Deputy Brian Melton has been invited to attend the 208th Session of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy beginning January 13 through March 22, 2002. The FBI National Academy is a 10-week training program aimed to provide education and training to prepare candidates for increasingly complex and dynamic leadership roles in the law enforcement community. To attend this training experience, candidates must successfully meet the requirements set forth by the FBI, which includes an extensive background investigation, physical standards and the candidate must or will be in a leadership role of his or her law enforcement agency. Once these requirements are met, candidates may then receive an invitation only from the FBI Director Robert S. Mueller, III.
Brian Melton has been a member of the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office since 1991 and has been Chief Deputy since 1995. In 1991, Brian received his Law Enforcement Administration, Bachelor of Science Degree from Western Illinois University, Macomb, Illinois. Brian, his wife, Carrie, and daughter, Emma currently reside in East Dubuque.
