During a first-person dialogue, storyteller Brian Ellis will become renowned inventor John Deere, during a private Board meeting, as Deere announces his retirement. The founder of the company reflects on his life of successes and struggles. Next he envisions the changes in agriculture in the future and how the company will transform to meet the needs of the evolving industry.
This program is hosted by the Volunteer Millers of de Immigrant authentic Dutch windmill. It is free and open to the public on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at 6:00 p.m., in the Windmill Cultural Center, located at 111 10th Avenue, Fulton, IL, across from the windmill.
The facility is accessible to persons with disabilities. Light refreshments will be served following the presentation.
Join us for a look into the future of agriculture. We will conclude with a discussion of issues: pros and cons of agriculture-versus-agribusiness; the role of technology and mechanization; the family farm, etc.
Brian “Fox” Ellis is an internationally acclaimed author, storyteller, historian, and naturalist, who lives in Bishop Hill, IL. He has worked with the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, IL, and the Field Museum in Chicago, IL, plus dozens of museums across the Country. Frequently a Keynote Speaker at regional and international conferences, Ellis addresses a number of diverse topics and portrays a repertoire of historical characters.
