Brent W. Zaagman, 31 of rural Sterling, IL, died Thursday January 15, 2015.
He was born on January 9, 1984, in Morrison, IL, the son of Bruce and Lisa (Ottens) Zaagman and was a graduate of Prophetstown High School. Brent was self-employed as a crop sprayer, as well as farming on his own and with his dad. He was a member of the Whiteside County Snowbirds snowmobilers and a past 4-H camp counselor. He enjoyed snowmobiling, demo derbys, and playing sand volleyball at Long Shots.
Surviving are his parents, Bruce and Lisa Zaagman of Lyndon, IL; his sister Bridget (Derrick) Maupin of Tampico, IL; his paternal grandmother, Thelma VenHuizen of Morrison; his maternal grandfather, Gene Ottens of Morrison; his aunts and uncles, Gordon (Paulette) Zaagman, Jim (Candy) Zaagman, Roland VanDerLeest, Allen (Karen) Ottens, Jeff (Colette) Ottens, and Greg (Nicky) Ottens; many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his aunt, Deb VanDerLeest; his paternal grandfather, William Zaagman, and his maternal grandmother, Phyllis Ottens.
Visitation will be Sunday January 18, 2015, from noon to 4:00 p.m., at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue, in Rock Falls, IL.
A celebration to honor his life will follow the visitation at the funeral home, with the Reverend Andy Plonzke officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorialsmay be made to the Whiteside County Snowbirds Snowmobile Club or to 4-H Camp scholarships.
