Brands and Steele Earn Commander’s Awards

Editor’s note:  Jerry Brearton, American Legion Post 328 Finance Officer and Sergeant-at-Arms, submitted this press release and photos.  

American Legion Post 328 in Morrison, IL, granted two, July 2018, Commander’s Awards for years of outstanding service.  The prestigious awards were presented by Commander Terry Jones.  Cake and ice cream was enjoyed in the celebration.  Recipients Bob Brands, left, and Fred Steele displayed the cake in their honor.

Bob Brands, right, received the award from Jones for his years as the Post’s Chaplain.  Brands still holds this position.  He has performed countless ministry functions for Post 328.

Fred Steele, right, received an award for his years as the Post’s Sergeant-at-Arms.  His duties involved coordinating the Honor Guard for hundreds of funerals, parades, church events, and any other event that involved the rifles for volleys and the Color Guard.  He has retired from this long-held position.  It is now the duty of Jerry Brearton.
