Braddock R. “Baby Doc” Shovlain, 3, of Davenport, IA, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016, in Davenport.
Braddock Ray Shovlain was born May 27, 2012 in Davenport, the fourth son of J. David and Renee (VanderVinne) Shovlain. His brothers want everyone to know that Braddock means to them the brother they will always have–the brother that will always make you smile. They will always remember the summers when he would sit and watch them play ball. They will remember swimming, shooting baskets, and playing kickball in the back yard with him.
Baby Doc loved going to his brother’s basketball games. He didn’t like to be alone in a room. He loved his brothers very much. He loved junk food, wearing jerseys, and giggling every time someone farted. Braylon taught him how to shoot free-throws. He would sit and pretend to do homework with Cale. He loved to wrestle with Keegan and was so happy when Keegan took him to the gym. He loved to be read to before bed, hated vegetables, loved sweets, and enjoyed learning words in Spanish that his daycare teachers taught him.
He had a contagious belly laugh, but hated taking naps! He was a huge Mamma’s boy and always wanted to sit on Mom’s lap. He always found a way to cry at restaurants, just so he could sit on Mom’s lap. Baby Doc loved going to North High School games and would ride on the golf cart with his dad. He would not lie down to go to sleep until his three brothers tucked him in and gave him a kiss goodnight. He asked every day if Santa Claus were going to come back again.
Lightning McQueen and race tracks were favorites of Baby Doc. He hated getting his picture taken, but enjoyed helping with the dishes, even though he would just sit on the dishwasher door. A vacuum was always meant to be ridden. His favorite book was No David. He loved playing with Nerf guns, but had to wear goggles in the shower because he hated getting his hair washed. He was the only Irish boy that could get a tan, because he had his mom’s skin. Braddock loved all his teachers at Villa Maria Day Care. He couldn’t wait to attend St. Paul’s and ride to school with his brothers.
