Booker in the Dunk Tank

DunkTankOn Saturday, September 9, 2017, Whiteside County Sheriff Candidate Lt. John Booker repeatedly was dropped into a dunk tank, during the Taste of Fiesta event, at the Grandon Civic Center in Sterling, IL.

John Booker stated, “I truly enjoyed seeing all the children smile each time I was dunked! Everyone who threw dunked me, even if they missed.”   People were allowed to release the platform on which he hovered above the water.  “The water was kind of warm.”

From noon to 6:00 p.m., people enjoyed free admission and kids’ crafts; music, art, dance, and culture; folkloric dancers; local musicians and artists.  There was food for purchase and the Kermes Fun Fair added to the day.

Booker for Sheriff supporters were also in the Fiesta Parade on Saturday, September 16, which began at 1:00 p.m.  It started at 1st Avenue and 10th Street in Rock Falls, IL, and finished across the Rock River in Sterling.

These events were organized and sponsored by Taste of Fiesta Inc.; The Community That Cares Project; social service providers; many local Hispanic and non-Hispanic businesses.
