Bob Medema, 64, of Erie, IL, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018 at home surrounded by his family.
Bob was born on May 27, 1954, in Geneseo, IL, the son of Gib and Carol Medema. He married Becke Hopson on March 23, 1974, in Erie.
Bob was a farmer, a retired Erie Fire Protection District Trustee, and a member of the Lake Erie Golf Course. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He always could be found cruising around the countryside “windshield farming”–often with a Casey’s doughnut and chocolate milk in hand and making his daily stop at DJC. Bob was known for his love of life, his charisma, and his contagious smile and laugh.
Bob is survived by his wife Becke Medema, Erie; daughter Heather (Brandon) Johnson, Port Byron, IL; son Chance (Vicki) Medema, Erie; granddaughter Kylie Chenoweth, Erie; grandson Colton Robert Johnson, Port Byron; mother Carol Medema Young, Morrison, IL; sister Teri Tegeler, Highlands Ranch, CO; sister Kris (Carl) Faye, Delores, CO; in-laws Karl and Joanne Hopson, Erie; many special friends who touched his life in so many ways.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gib Medema, sister Laurie Smith, and brother-in-law Wayne Tegeler.
A Celebration of Life Open House will be held at the Lake Erie Golf Course on Thursday, August 2, 2018, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
