Bill Wundram, 98, passed away peacefully in his home alongside his wife of 70 years, Helen.
Bill had been employed for 74 years by Lee Enterprises as a Reporter, Editor, and Columnist. He was a Columnist seven days a week for 31 years.
Bill loved his family and his dog, Molly, deeply. He also had an affection for “the word,” books, newspapers, and bow ties.
He loved the circus, the Bix, convertibles, typewriters, maps, screened porches, little towns, martinis, popcorn, Hemingway, birthdays, writing, laughter, steamboats, Lagomarcino’s [Confectionery], Sunday afternoon drives, and people. He especially loved October skies and pumpkin pies with a dollop of whipped cream.
He is survived by his wife Helen; children, Timothy (Anne) Wundram of Davenport, IA, and Rebecca Wundram of Sauk City, WI; daughter-in-law, Teri Hamerlinck (Jeff) of Davenport; grandchildren, Christopher (Brooke) Wundram of Marion, IA, Ashley (Matthew) McCowan of The Woodlands, TX, Zachary (Kelli) Wundram of Morrison, IL, and Nicholas Wundram of Eldridge, IA; five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son, Peter Wundram.
There will be a private family Funeral and a Celebration of Life at a later date.
