The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) announced the 2016 recipients of its Benefactor Award. This recognizes individuals, foundations, businesses, or corporations which embody the ideals of philanthropy, leadership, and volunteerism in the service of community, technical, and junior colleges. The Council for Resource Development established the Benefactor Award in 1992 and has recognized more than 200 individuals and organizations.
This year’s Benefactor Award recipients include the Bickelhaupt Family, benefactors to Clinton Community College in Clinton, IA. Bob and Frances Bickelhaupt are longtime supporters of Clinton Community College. Shown left-to-right are Marc Westenburg, Francie (Bickelhaupt) Hill, Allan Rathje, and Ann Eisenman. CASE recognized the winners at a luncheon at the Conference for Community College Advancement in San Diego, CA.
Clinton Community College President Karen Vickers commented, “The Bickelhaupt Arboretum has long been a treasure of our community. The beautiful grounds provide a sense of pride for our community, and the educational offerings [give] ‘students’ of all ages the opportunity to experience this outdoor museum. As a college, we were honored to be entrusted with the future of the arboretum. Our goals are to maintain the arboretum for the use of the community and to build on the educational programs currently offered. We hope to build on the work of the Bickelhaupts and to continue their legacy.”
