Betty Kathryn Birely, 93, of Pleasant View Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Morrison, IL, died Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at the center.
Betty was born May 10, 1923, in Mt. Carroll, IL, to Earl and Grace (Garman) Keim. She was a graduate of Mt. Carroll High School and attended Brown’s Business College in Sterling, IL. Betty first married Henry J. DeGroot and later married David P. Birely on February 12, 1988 in Morrison. He died January 8, 1990. She was employed by Bi-County Special Education in Morrison and was an active volunteer of the Morrison American Legion and VFW. She was also a member of Morrison United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Terri (Jim) Kenagy of Bellevue, NE; three sons, Pat (Lynn) DeGroot of Spring Valley, IL; Jeff (Dee) DeGroot of Morrison, and Roger (Janice) DeGroot of Arlington Heights, IL; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Patricia DeGroot and Allison DeGroot; three sisters, Lucille Lovett, Ethel Rodemeyer, and Doris Rinehart; one brother, Bob Keim.
GRAVESIDE COMMITTAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 13, 2017, at Grove Hill Cemetery, Morrison, IL
OFFICIATING: Rev. Ryan Sutton, Pastor of Morrison United Methodist Church, Morrison, IL
>There will be no Visitation or Memorial Service.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
The Morrison Chapel of Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
