Betty Lorraine (Linder) Grater of rural Morrison, IL, celebrated her 100th Birthday with a reception hosted by her daughters, on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Morrison United Methodist Church in Morrison.
Betty was the only daughter of Harry Linder, Sr. and Mary Bernice (Burch) Linder, born April 29, 1923. She had four brothers, Harry, Jr., Carroll, Herbert, who died in infancy, and Harlan.
Betty married Earl William Grater on March 8, 1942. They lived and farmed in Malvern, IL, for over 70 years. Her husband, Earl, died July 11, 2013. The couple has five daughters, Cheryl (Ron) Bielema, of Canton, IL; Cathy (Chuck) Berschinski, of Mahomet, IL: Judy (Dennis) Goossens, of Morrison; Linnette Keller, from Cuero, TX; Leanne Dykema, of Morrison.
There are 13 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Many of them spent the weekend in Morrison, honoring their grandmother’s 100-year milestone. Grandma Betty (GG) loved hugging each and every one of them!
Daughter Cheryl Bielema noted this is a “glamour shot [Betty] submitted in the 1940s for a potential Hollywood modeling [opportunity.]”
