Belva A. Burmeister, 89, of Morrison, IL, died Monday, April 25, 2022, at Resthave Care & Rehabilitation in Morrison.
Belva was born August 10, 1932, in White Pigeon Township, Morrison, to Elmer and Blanche (Groharing) Mosher. She was educated in the Morrison Grade Schools and was a graduate of Morrison High School. She married John Hollingsworth in 1955 in Morrison. She later married Lyle Burmeister in 1975 in Dewitt, IA; he died in 1993. Belva was first employed at General Electric in Morrison and then Volkmann Furniture Factory in Morrison. She retired from Ennis Business in Dewitt. Belva was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Morrison. Along with her husband, Lyle, she enjoyed traveling and camping. She also enjoyed bowling and playing cards. Belva was an avid reader and a great seamstress.
Survivors include her daughter, Ruth Ann Ritchie of Savanna, IL; sons, David John (Teri) Hollingsworth of Davenport, IA, and Donald (Sandy) Hollingsworth of Orangevale, CA; stepson, Daniel Burmeister of Bettendorf, IA; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; grandson, Ryan Piatt; brothers, Raymond, Robert, and Russell Mosher; stepson, Jeffrey A. Burmeister.
Her Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Morrison Chapel of the Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home, with Ken Renkes officiating.
A Visitation will precede the service, starting at 12:00noon until the start of the Memorial service.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
