MugMyraHuizengaShortly after noon on Thursday, April 1, 2021, Members of Morrison Chamber of Commerce gathered to honor Myra Huizenga, with a “Because Nice matters!” customer service award.

She and husband Chad are owners of Hair Headquarters salon, 200 N. Madison Street, Morrison, IL.

They purchased the business from Mike and Charla Olson “three years ago,” but Myra had worked as a cosmetologist at Hair Headquarters for several years of her 17-year career.

Her certificate stated, “In appreciation of your efforts in creating the best experience for your customers and our community, the Morrison Chamber of Commerce proudly recognizes and congratulates you as the recipient of the Because Nice Matters Award.  We sincerely appreciate your customer service and your commitment to our community!”  Huizenga was awarded an etched beverage holder, locally made by KAST Laser Creations.

She explained the recognition was for services to clients before the COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020.  “I did manicures for four or five residents at Resthave [Care & Rehabilitation] and two people at Windsor Manor [Assisted Living Community.]  I stopped going in March [last year.]  I do the friend-of-a-friend [now.]  It’s a goal to get back at it!”

Sharing the recognition were, left-to-right, Dana Verdick; Chamber Board President Kevin Schisler; Chamber Director LeAnn Schaefer; Owner Myra Huizenga; son Blake Huizenga, 14; Mark Musselman; Lori Matlack.  In front are the Huizenga daughters, Leah, 8, and Maddy, 10.
